· Effect utilization biodiesel to environment.

Details: 

Community in Lampoon change waste cooking oil to biodiesel. Biodiesel is vegetable oil- or animal fat-based diesel fuel consisting of long-chain alkyl esters. Biodiesel is typically made by chemically reacting lipids. Biodiesel is be used in standard diesel engines and converted diesel engines. They got the instrument for making biodiesel from government in 2006.

The community buys waste cooking oil from snack industry, 10 baht per liter. They mix 100 liter cooking oil with 1 kilogram potassium hydroxide and 20 liter methanol. Then mixture liquid heating in 1 hour with temperature 50-60 degree Celsius (Figure 4c). The liquid mixture, settling in four hour to get biodiesel and glycerin. Glycerin have high density than biodiesel, it takes the bottom of tank. The glycerin relieved by drain the bottom tank. But it still contain the glycerin, they take pure biodiesel use water. Water pumps in blue tank (Figure 4b) and takes the biodiesel. They repeat this step in 6 tanks. It’s need 600 kilogram water to clean 100 kilogram biodiesel.

They get 60-70 kilogram biodiesel by processing 100 kilogram waste cooking oil. They can produce 200 liter biodiesel everyday. Biodiesel have a lifetime one week, after that property will change. Although biodiesel is main product, they can sell glycerin to cosmetic industry.

They show combustion between biodiesel and diesel. Biodiesel have a lower smoke than diesel with the same quantity of fuel. It means biodiesel have a better effect to environment than diesel.

Impression: 

Change waste cooking oil become biodiesel is good solution to reduce waste from industry. It also has good properties for fuel.

Conclusion: 

Biodiesel is vegetable oil- or animal fat-based diesel fuel consisting of long-chain alkyl esters. Biodiesel is typically made by chemically reacting lipids. Biodiesel is better than diesel in effect for environment, because it have small quantity of smoke.
